I got a text from the Dirt Work Guys saying they had found some gravel on the property and were using some today. Just to be clear, its not like they found a pile of clean gravel on the property. Apparently there are a lot of gravel pits in the area so it is not uncommon to find gravel on your property. This gravel is called bank gravel. Here is the definition if you Google it.

Bank gravel is a mixture of sand, dirt, and gravel that’s excavated directly from a gravel pit or quarry bank. It’s typically unprocessed and contains particles ranging in size from ¼ inch to 6 inches. Bank run gravel is often used in construction and landscaping projects because it’s cost-effective, easy to pack, and resistant to erosion.

He sent pictures but if just looks like dirt with some rocks in it.

So that is good news. He also sent an updated map of their progress. They are still not sure they can get too close to the camp but they are trying to find a way to stay on high ground. Trying not to get my hopes up too high but that would be great.

They had to take quite a swing to the south. The camp cabin is on that small piece of land you see in the far right of the picture in the middle of the screen. So there is still quite a ways to go.

In a call with Gary he said, “you have a magic piece of property here.” He heard a moose calling when they arrived this morning. He called back to it and it answered. His partner then walked up and asked if he had seen the big moose that he had just seen. He also said that he had seen deer on the property. He commented that it would be an excellent hunting property. I’m not a hunter but judging by the app he is using to track his progress on the property, it’s a pretty safe bet he is.

Further updates will follow as they occur.
