Not a whole lot to report today.
I stayed at Camp Hidey Ho all day and concentrated on getting the battery closet built.
And actually, I made really good progress.
I worked on the closet itself and got the insulation installed, and I even managed to start putting pine paneling on the outside—which was more than I expected to accomplish today.
So although it wasn’t a particularly exciting day from a journal-writing standpoint, it was a very productive one.
And that’s exactly what I need right now.
With only a couple of days remaining before I leave, I’m definitely in that stage where I’m looking around the cabin thinking:
What absolutely has to get done before I go?
The battery closet is at the top of that list. Since I’m planning to leave the batteries here over the winter, I want to get them into their new insulated home and have everything buttoned up as well as possible before I leave.
I also spent some more time working in the shed.
That’s actually starting to look pretty good too. I’ve been sorting through things, deciding what stays, what goes home and what simply needs to disappear.
It’s becoming something that might even be described as organized.
Relatively organized.
Let’s not get carried away.
So, all in all, not an adventurous day, but a good one. The battery closet is taking shape, the shed is getting cleaned up, and I’m gradually working my way through the final Camp Hidey Ho to-do list.
Tomorrow is Tuesday.
And more importantly…
Tomorrow is Dump Day.
At this point, the dump has become such a regular part of my Maine experience that I feel like it deserves its own chapter.
