I’ve been feeling unusually tired lately, so I went to bed early last night and slept in—at least by camp standards—probably around 7:30 or even 8:00 a.m. I mostly puttered around in the morning, still struggling with low energy like I have the past couple of days. Definitely something I need to address.
That said, I did manage to get a few productive things done. The biggest win was getting the new, larger generator up and running. I also set up a second LED light, which, along with the first one, now floods the cabin with bright light. It makes a huge difference inside, and I’m really happy with the result. I used the opportunity to organize and tidy up the cabin—amazing how much easier cleaning is when you can actually see what you’re doing.
By midday, I was running low on water, gas, and clean clothes, so I drove into Princeton for lunch, thinking a decent meal might perk me up. I picked up food, stocked up on water, and filled up on gas. While there, I noticed that at the end of the building where the Old School Family Restaurant is, there’s a laundromat. I went in to check it out, but unlike the other laundromat I’ve used, this one only takes quarters. They have a change machine, but it only works with small bills, and I didn’t have any, so laundry will have to wait. At least now I know it’s there for next time.
On the drive back, I was surprised—and honestly a little shocked—to see that logging has now reached all the way to our property line. I thought there was still another property buffer in between, but they’ve cleared right up to us. The difference is stark: where there used to be dense forest, there’s now open, barren ground.
Back at the cabin, I went for a swim in the lake, which was refreshing and much needed. I explored more of the nearby shoreline to check water depth and spot potential hazards. There are quite a few rocks lurking just below the surface—good to know for when I’m out in the rowboat.
Late in the day, I noticed several missed calls from the lumber guy, but by the time I saw them, it was 5:45 p.m., too late to call back. I’ll reach out to him first thing in the morning.
That’s about it for today.
